Innovating to revolutionize women’s health

Our core ethos is to expand freedom for women. We are pushing the limits of what’s possible by building products centered on self-determination, increasing overall quality of life for women everywhere.

Our first product under development

A novel approach to birth control, aiming to reinforce the natural cervical mucus barrier to provide effective birth control on demand without any hormones.

EXPLORING THE POTENTIAL FOR A MUCUS REINFORCING CONTRACEPTIVE

Introduction

Cirqle’s technology is being evaluated for its potential to make cervical mucus temporarily impenetrable to sperm. It is believed that a barrier may be established by a molecule that interacts with cervical mucus and reinforces the natural barrier, preventing sperm cells from breaching the cervical mucus barrier. The technology is designed to provide a localized option, interacting with the superficial mucus layer directly.

The technology is currently in pre-clinical development.

WE MUST DO BETTER

What drives us?

1960 was a defining moment in history. The introduction of oral birth control was a turning point for women’s reproductive rights. Access to “the pill” afforded women more bodily autonomy than ever before, offered greater financial freedom and acted as a foundation for historic achievements in gender equity.

Unfortunately, this momentum of innovation in contraception was not maintained. More than 60 years later, a new mechanism of action in contraception has not been developed, despite a significant share of women experiencing physical and mental side-effects from using hormonal contraception.

Our goal is to uphold the radical ideals that fueled the initial birth control movement and provide a new contraceptive option desired by millions of women.

Career opportunities

“In the past, new biomedical discoveries have only very late — if ever — applied to women’s health. Our vision is to harness new discoveries to create long-overdue breakthrough treatments for women.”
